Seminar Series -2015

This year's South West International Boat Show will once again feature an impressive array of over 50+ FREE, with admission, hourly educational and entertaining seminar presentations. All of the seminars will be held at the South Shore Harbour Resort & Spa, the official Hotel of the Boat Show conveniently located on site, and hosted by technical experts, well-seasoned sailors, best-selling authors and world cruisers. The Cruising seminars are sponsored in part by Cruising Outpost Magazine.

Our seminar series will cover topics from cruising with couples and families to digital communication technologies and marine electric propulsion and many more – there is something for everyone to learn at this year's show.

Just a few of the featured seminars will include: Visiting Mexico by Private boat-A Guide to entry requirements into Mexican Marinas; Women and Cruising; Sailing Made Easy-Beginning Sailing Techniques; Galveston Bay Fishing Tactics; Storm/Steering Drogues & Para-Anchors; How to Plan your Boats Energy Usage; Yacht, Cabin &Flotilla Charters Worldwide-Highlighting the Greek Islands; Cruising the Mediterranean and How to Buy a New or Used Yacht.

In addition to our 50+ free hourly seminars; NEW for 2015 we are offering an Advanced Educational Seminar Series and are pleased to offer you three opportunities to advance your skill set at this year's show.

Friday, March 27th: Nigel Calder, the Sailing Systems Specialist will present two of his three-hour comprehensive seminars designed to help do-it-yourselfers get the job done—stress free! Each course is offered for $60 per person or you may attend both seminars for $100 per person.

Jeff and Jean

Saturday, March 28th: Jeff & Jean Two Can Sail hosted by Couples Instructors and lifelong cruisers Captains Jean Levine and Jeff Grossman. The goal and objective of this Couples Cruising Seminar is to give you both the tools and perspectives you need as a couple to safely pursue the cruising lifestyle. Course fee is $175 per person/$295 per couple.

Lee Chesneau

Sunday, March 29th: Lee Chesneau, an accomplished U.S. Coast Guard certified instructor for basic and advanced meteorology at five continuing training institutions for professional mariners, will offer his Basic Marine Weather entry-level one-day course for attendees with little or no marine weather background. Course fee is $125 per person.
